Wedding Wish Tree Cards

7/30/12

Remember when I mentioned those 200+ photos I needed to power through and get up on the blog? Well, lucky you, that starts today! For those of you who read my blog just for the house updates, you may want to divert your eyes for a bit. I promise to interrupt the tide of wedding invitation inspiration if any significant progress is made on our reno. But since Mike just got back from Prince Edward Island last night from a yearly golfing trip with the guys in my family... progress has hit a brick wall. It was a well-deserved break for him and he needed the rest. We're at the electrical point right now in the reno project, and thankfully 3 guys on the golf trip are electricians - so the pace downstairs will (hopefully) pick up soon.

In the meantime? Stationery! Today, I have some wedding wish tags for you - because it's not all about the invites, right? Felicia and Basil created these cute, quirky cards for their friends and family to fill out at their wedding in lieu of a traditional guestbook.

Wedding wish trees have been picking up in popularity - and I particularly loved Felicia & Basil's take, where the guests had a choice between a blank card to write their wish on, or a cheeky fill-in-the-blank-mad-libs kind of tag. The tags were then tied to a tree with bright red ribbons.

If you remember, we created some fun Manzanita trees for our cocktail hour which would've been pretty easy to convert into wishing trees. Here are some more great ideas I found online:

I love the bright, colorful patterned backs of these tags, and the different colored ribbon used to attach them to the tree.

This is a super cute idea from Martha Stewart where paper birds are the wish tags, and they are placed in nests in the trees. This would go oh-so-perfectly with my recently redesigned lovebird invites!

Love, love, love the teal! I'm currently incorporating teal in our house right now - pretty sure it's my favorite color... next to gray... and curry yellow... and aubergine, ha! In this photo, the Manzanita branches have been sprayed a beautiful silver metallic - we used a copper spray paint on our Manzanita branches that added a subtle shimmer when the branches caught the light. Had we gotten married in the spring, I would've gone either all white (we know how I heart the monotone look), or navy, teal, white and silver. I may need to have another wedding. Or ten.
